Vogue Alley Fashion Boutique
The Vogue Alley fashion boutique opened in Essen in 1987. In 1989, the project received the First Prize of the German Interior Architecture Award, becoming one of the office’s defining early works.
The spatial concept combined merchandise presentation, customer orientation and a welcoming atmosphere within a clearly structured boutique. At its centre stood a striking circular element containing the checkout and fitting rooms, forming the architectural heart of the store.
These drawings illustrate the exceptional level of detail invested in every built-in element and display system. At the time, every drawing was produced entirely by hand.
The success of the project led to the design of a second Vogue Alley boutique in Oldenburg in 1990. For this branch, a modular retail system was developed that could easily adapt to changing collections and different floor plans.
The Oldenburg boutique further developed the original concept. Modular clothing rail systems and mobile wall shelving created a highly flexible presentation system that allowed the shop to adapt continuously to new collections and changing merchandising requirements.
